01 - 14 oz extra-firm tofu, pressed and cut into 1-inch cubes
02 - ½ cup all-purpose flour (or chickpea flour for gluten-free)
03 - ½ cup unsweetened plant-based milk
04 - 1 cup panko breadcrumbs (gluten-free if needed)
05 - 1 tsp garlic powder
06 - 1 tsp onion powder
07 - ½ tsp smoked paprika
08 - ½ tsp salt
09 - ¼ tsp black pepper
10 - 2 tbsp vegetable oil (for baking or frying)
→ Holiday Spice Dip
11 - ½ cup vegan mayonnaise
12 - ¼ cup unsweetened plain plant-based yogurt
13 - 1 tbsp pure maple syrup
14 - ½ tsp ground cinnamon
15 - ¼ tsp ground nutmeg
16 - ¼ tsp ground ginger
17 - ⅛ tsp ground cloves
18 - Pinch of salt
# Directions:
01 - Preheat oven to 425°F or heat oil in a deep skillet for frying. Line a baking sheet with parchment if baking.
02 - Arrange three bowls with flour, plant-based milk, and panko breadcrumbs mixed with garlic powder, onion powder, smoked paprika, salt, and black pepper.
03 - Dip each tofu cube sequentially into flour, then milk, and lastly coat with the seasoned breadcrumb mixture.
04 - For baking: Place coated cubes on prepared sheet, lightly drizzle with oil, bake 20 minutes turning halfway until golden and crisp. For frying: Heat 2 tbsp oil in skillet over medium heat; fry tofu 2–3 minutes per side until golden. Drain on paper towels.
05 - Whisk together vegan mayonnaise, plant-based yogurt, maple syrup, cinnamon, nutmeg, ginger, cloves, and salt until smooth.
06 - Serve the hot tofu nuggets accompanied by the holiday spice dip.
