Clockwork Orange Citrus Cheese (Printable Version)

A colorful citrus platter shaped like a clock, paired with creamy cheese and honey.

# What You'll Need:

→ Citrus

01 - 1 large orange
02 - 1 blood orange
03 - 1 grapefruit
04 - 2 clementines
05 - 1 lemon
06 - 1 lime

→ Cheese

07 - 5.3 oz firm goat cheese or manchego
08 - 3.5 oz aged cheddar or gouda

→ Garnishes

09 - 2 tbsp honey
10 - 2 tbsp chopped pistachios or walnuts (optional)
11 - Fresh mint leaves (optional)
12 - Crackers or crusty bread, to serve

# Directions:

01 - Cut all citrus fruits into thin, even rounds, removing seeds as needed.
02 - Place citrus slices in a circular pattern on a large round serving platter, alternating colors for visual contrast, positioning one slice at each hour on the clock.
03 - Slice cheeses into long, narrow strips. Form two pieces to mimic clock hands and position at the center pointing to desired time.
04 - Drizzle honey over the center and sprinkle with chopped pistachios or walnuts if using.
05 - Decorate with fresh mint leaves to enhance aroma and color.
06 - Present immediately alongside crackers or crusty bread.

# Additional Tips::

01 -
  • It looks like edible art but takes barely twenty minutes, so you can actually enjoy your guests instead of hiding in the kitchen.
  • The combination of tart, sweet, and creamy hits every flavor note at once, and everyone will ask you how you thought of it.
  • It's naturally vegetarian and gluten-free, which means nobody has to sit it out.
02 -
  • Slice your citrus right before assembly—if you do it hours ahead, the edges dry out and lose their jewel-like translucence.
  • Room temperature cheese slices much cleaner than cold cheese, so take yours out of the fridge about ten minutes before you start shaping the hands.
03 -
  • Use a very sharp knife and let the blade do the work—pressing down hard on citrus bruises it and makes the slices look sad.
  • If you want to get really fancy, chill your cheese knives so they glide through the cheese without tearing or dragging.
